　　Artist Lifu,

　　The Contemporary Chinese landscape painter.

　　Lifu was born in a family of artists, his mother, Zhi Zhang who passed away years ago was a modern Chinese expressionism paper-cut artist. 

　　When he was writing entrance examinations for universities, Lifu applied for three colleges in the same time: The College of Fine Arts, The Academy of Music and the University of Sports. Before becoming a professional painter, Lifu worked as a television director and producer for more than 10 years. During his television career, Lifu interviewed many famous artists in China and gained deep understanding of the essence of the true meaning of Chinese landscape painting and calligraphy. Some of these artists have become his teachers and life-long friends. 

　　In 2004, Lifu left his well-paid TV director and producer's position and walked into his art studio to paint. 

　　10 years later, as a professional Chinese Landscape painter, Lifu appeared at 1618 Art Gallery in Shenzhen and in the view of public.

　　That was the day of November 18, 2014 when Lifu's Personal Exhibition and The Symposium of Lifu's Works took place in Shenzhen, the most dynamic city in China. Today, Chinese art scholars and experts give high evaluation to Lifu's works. Libin Liu, the professional critic and curator of Lifu's Personal Exhibition, he said"Lifu's work touches the nature of things directly and exsit in both a unique cultural ambience and mixing with wild nature. The way of adopting hidden trunks (No bone drawing) that Lifu did makes the breath on painting very well including landscape and movement. It reflects Lifu's artistic talent and high perception of the medium."

　　In 2013, Lifu's Chinese watercolor painting entitled Withered Lotus Singing in the Rain, also known as "Lotus clothes falling into an ancient pond" make a successful bid at The Fall of Poly Auction House, it is one of the most authority of the art auction organization in China. (Price: 120,000 RMB about 24,000$; Medium: Chinese watercolor painting on rice paper; Size 61cmX122cm) This step makes Lifu could among the ranks of China's outstanding artists.

　　The official website of China's State News Agency, XinhuaNet published a long commentary written by a well-known scholar and critic June Hou and regarded Lifu as the "Dark Horse" in contemporary Chinese landscape painting in the article.

　　Libin Liu, the famous critic and curator of Lifu's Personal Exhibition, giving his  comment on Lifu's works that " Lifu's paintings have developing a new style showing spirit that is very persistent and innocent. "Libin Liu added that " Lifu's works on the animal series display spiritual temperament and demonstrate internal dynamic beauty. Lifu seems to have the ability to converse with animals. "

　　Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of Beijing University, Yundong Wu believes that"a true artist is one who is full of love of human beings and nature. He thinks that Lifu's Chinese landscape paintings are poetic, independent and spiritual，the true feelings was come from the artist's inner heart."

　　The works on display at the WINCHESTER GALLERIES in Victoria are just part of Lifu's animal series. Most of these were created in this summer. It is worth mentioning that many elements in these works are from Victoria: for example, elegance of color was added to the original black and white Chinese landscape.
